UGC Norms on Prevention of Ragging

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, every higher education institution is mandated to:

  • Prohibit ragging in any form on campus.
  • Constitute an Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC).
  • Ensure a safe and non-hostile learning environment.
  • Take preventive measures and conduct awareness sessions for students and staff.

College Policy on Ragging

A.P.S. Degree College strictly follows UGC and Government norms to prevent ragging. The college ensures:

  • Immediate and strict disciplinary action against offenders.
  • Awareness programs and counseling for new students.
  • Zero tolerance for ragging and harassment.
  • Confidential reporting and support for victims.

How to Report Ragging?

Any student or staff who experiences or witnesses ragging may lodge a written complaint to the Committee immediately. Complaints can be submitted in person at the college office or via email.

Rights of the Complainant

  • Right to confidentiality during the inquiry.
  • Right to a fair and impartial investigation.
  • Right to protection from retaliation.
  • Right to appeal the decision, if dissatisfied.

Time-bound Process

  • Complaint filing: Immediately after incident.
  • Initial review: Within 3 working days.
  • Investigation completion: Within 30 days.
  • Action taken report: Within 15 days of completion.
